The ZEN Series

As an avid gardener, I have always admired Zen gardens not only for their beauty, but for what they represent and the meditative state of mind which you must have to tend to them.  A calm, quiet state of mind and lifestyle which I one day hope to achieve.  Well,  this Christmas I received a very unexpected gift - a miniature Zen garden .  On the card, there was this poem:

Spring's myriad flowers,

Autumn's harvest moon,

Summer's cool breeze,

Winter's snow.

When useless thoughts don't fill your mind, every season is the best season.

I have seen them around for many years - in stores or people's houses, and even rifling through the occasional home decor magazine in the doctor's waiting room.  I've always liked them and wanted one, but would never buy one for myself.  I had a blast setting it up and raking the sand, but with all of my accessories that came with it, I felt it was missing a water feature.  While I have plans in the works to make them actually function with real water, I figured this was a wonderful way to add the "feel" of water present without any maintenance!  I have made a few different styles and many more are floating around in my head.    Here are the first few that I've made!

Bubbling Organic Urn -  This marble - like pot is rimmed in dark amber glass and has water cascading down only one side of the pot.  For a touch of drama and movement, the water bubbles up over the rim.  It looks as though you could actually hear the soothing, bubbling water.
Copper Green Patina Pot - The dark blue water flowing from this pot is the perfect compliment to the patinaed copper colored glass pot that it's spilling from.  Not pictured with it is the pool of water that sits underneath.  I love this color and it really reminds me of an old Chinese garden pot.
Organic Reservoir Water Feature - This is my version of a self-contained water feature .  The organic center pushes "water" upwards and it cascades down the sides into the clear dish ornate with "rocks" in the bottom.  Next time I make one, the dish is going to be bigger.
Caramello and silver bubbling pot feature -  This is a brand new glass from a German company that I have fallen in love with.  It has pinks on it, caramels, and metallic bronze tones on it with water bubbling up and over 4 sides of the pot.
There are many more still to come.  I have some that still have to be photographed and some that I haven't resized for the webpage yet.  Please check back soon as I will be adding more of these soon.
